About
I am a multimedia producer and editor dedicated to growing sustainability- and community-focused storytelling in the news media landscape.
And as a trained writer, educator, and journalist, I bring a unique skill set and perspective to each story I tell.
Unlike most media professionals, my career began not in a newsroom, but at the front of a classroom.
As a high school English and Public Speaking teacher, I always brought diverse and emerging forms of news media into the classroom: video storytelling, podcasts, and even social media-first writing. I loved my daily interactions with my students and having the opportunity to expose young people to nontraditional journalism — but I realized my passion for making multimedia content, and discovered that I wanted to be creating nontraditional journalism myself. After three years as a teacher, I left my role in 2022 to pursue a Master of Science in Journalism at Northwestern University and fully pivot into a media career.
During my graduate studies, I covered K-12 and higher education in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, wrote magazine-style features on local musicians, chefs, and artists, and gained hosting and editing experience through a series of news and lifestyle video packages. I also took courses in podcasting, photojournalism, and visual storytelling. Since graduation, I moved to Philadelphia and have continued my multimedia coverage of urban sustainability. I spent much of 2024 interning and completing fellowships in Philadelphia newsrooms to deepen my understanding of the issues affecting this city.
As Resolve Philly’s first Communications Fellow, I produced multiple video series on civic and environmental topics for social media and developed an SEO-driven editorial content strategy. I was also a producer and reporter for the 5th season of Block by Block on WPPM 106.5 FM, a community radio news show about and for Philadelphians made by a team of community radio news fellows.
In addition to my multimedia reporting experience and published stories in Grid Magazine, Business Insider, The Chicago Reader, and more, I also have experience with on-camera hosting, podcasting, and photojournalism. My photography has been published in Grid Magazine and Block Club Chicago. In addition to my M.S. from Northwestern, I also hold a B.A. in English from N.C. State University, as well as certification in multiple Adobe Suite programs.
When I’m not writing or editing, I love cooking vegan recipes, watching reality TV, caring for my collection of houseplants, and exploring my neighborhood of historic Old City Philadelphia.
